The Power of Telling Your True Story

The Power of Telling Your True Story

Every person carries a story.

Some stories are filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Others hold memories of loss, hardship, fear, and experiences that can be difficult to put into words. Yet all of these moments become part of the journey that shapes who we are.

Telling a true story takes courage.

There is something powerful about looking back at the experiences that changed us and giving them a voice. For many people, painful memories are carried silently for years. They become private chapters that are rarely discussed, even though they may have had a profound impact on the person we eventually became.

Sharing those experiences does not mean allowing the past to control us. Instead, it can become a way of reclaiming our own narrative.

In What’s That Flower I Have On, I share memories and experiences from my life that helped shape my journey. These are stories of difficult moments, childhood memories, challenges, survival, and the lessons that can emerge when we continue moving forward.

One of the most meaningful things I have learned is that we are not defined only by the worst things that happen to us.

We are also defined by our ability to endure.

We are defined by the moments when we choose to keep going.

We are defined by the courage it takes to face another day and the strength we discover within ourselves when life becomes difficult.

Our past can leave scars, but scars also remind us that we survived.

That is why true stories matter. They create connection. They remind readers that they are not alone in their struggles and that someone else may have faced feelings of fear, loneliness, uncertainty, or pain.

Sometimes, reading another person’s story gives us the courage to look at our own.

Sometimes, hearing that someone survived gives us hope that we can survive too.

And sometimes, the simple act of telling the truth can become the beginning of healing.

Life is not always easy, and healing is rarely a straight path. We may move forward, look back, struggle, grow, and continue learning throughout our lives. But every step forward matters.

Your experiences matter.

Your voice matters.

And your story deserves to be remembered.

No matter where your journey has taken you, there is always another chapter waiting to be written. The past may be part of your story, but it does not have to be the final page.

Keep your story going.

You never know who may find hope, courage, or strength simply because you had the bravery to tell the truth.
